Jungle temples hide two chests behind tripwires and a lever puzzle. This Minecraft jungle temple finder shows where they generate from your seed. Enter a seed, choose the nearest temple and copy the /tp command. You land on the ground beside the mossy walls. That saves you from cutting through dense jungle for hours.
What a Jungle Temple Holds
A jungle temple, also called a jungle pyramid, is a small building of cobblestone and mossy cobblestone. It has three floors, with the main loot in the basement.
There are two chests. One sits behind a hallway with tripwires connected to arrow dispensers. The other is hidden behind a lever puzzle. Chests can hold diamonds, emeralds, gold, iron, bones, enchanted books and horse armor. They also have a chance to contain the wild armor trim.
The dispensers are worth taking too. Each one holds arrows.
How Jungle Temples Generate
Jungle temples spawn in jungle and bamboo jungle biomes. In Java Edition, they use regions 32 chunks wide, with at least 8 chunks between attempts.
Each attempt checks the biome. If the spot is not jungle, nothing generates. Since jungles are often small or patchy in modern versions, many seeds have no temple near spawn.
The building sits on the surface, but the tall jungle trees hide it well.
Finding a Jungle Temple in Game
Jungles are thick with leaves and vines, so temples are hard to spot from the ground. Climbing a tall tree helps. Look for a gray cobblestone roof poking through the canopy.
Even so, you can walk right past one. A seed map tells you exactly where to go.
Another option is to travel along a river. Rivers cut through jungles and give you open views to both sides. Look for a gap in the trees with gray stone behind it. Moss and vines cover the walls, so the temple can blend into the green. Check your coordinates often so you know which parts you already searched.
Using the Jungle Temple Finder Map
Select your edition and version, then enter your seed. The map shows the jungle temples nearest to spawn, sorted by distance.
Click a result to copy its coordinates or a /tp command. You land on the ground next to the temple. Inside, break the tripwire with shears or cut it carefully before you walk the hallway. For the lever puzzle, you can also simply dig around it to reach the hidden chest.
Use the 3D view to see how the trees surround the building.
Jungle Temple Version History
Jungle temples were added in Java Edition 1.3.1, at the same time as desert pyramids. Bamboo jungles, added in Java 1.14, can hold them too. Java 1.20 added the wild armor trim to their chests.
Surviving the Trip Through the Jungle
Jungles are beautiful but slow to cross. Dense leaves, vines and tall trees block your path. Bring an axe to clear a way, or travel along the canopy.
The jungle also has plenty to collect on the way:
- Cocoa beans grow on jungle logs and make brown dye and cookies.
- Melons grow wild and give you an easy food source.
- Parrots can be tamed with seeds.
- Ocelots live here and can be befriended with raw fish.
- Pandas appear in bamboo jungles.
Inside the temple, a few tricks keep you safe. Break the tripwire with shears to collect the string without firing the trap. You can also break the dispensers to stop the arrows and keep them for yourself.
Hostile mobs spawn in the dark undergrowth, even during the day. So place torches as you walk, especially near the temple. That way, the area is safe when you return.
Jungle temples do not respawn their loot. Once the chests are empty, the temple is mostly useful as a landmark or a base.
