Pillager Outpost

Pillager outposts are watchtowers where illagers gather, and they start raids. This Minecraft pillager outpost finder shows where they generate from your seed. Enter a seed, choose a result and copy the /tp command. You land on the ground beside the tower. From there, you can raid it for loot or free the allays held inside cages.

Why Players Visit Pillager Outposts

A pillager outpost is a dark oak tower with a banner on top. Pillagers spawn around it constantly, so it is a reliable place to fight them.

The tower chest holds crossbows, arrows, iron, food and sometimes enchanted books. Around the tower, you may find cages with an iron golem or allays inside. Free an allay and it will collect items for you.

Many players also visit to trigger raids. Killing the pillager captain gives you an ominous bottle. Drink it in a village to start a raid, which drops totems, emeralds and more.

How Pillager Outposts Generate

In Java Edition, outposts use regions 32 chunks wide, with at least 8 chunks between attempts. However, each attempt has only about a 20% chance of going ahead. Outposts also cannot generate within 10 chunks of a village.

They spawn in the same kinds of biomes as villages, plus many mountain biomes. These include desert, plains, savanna, snowy plains, taiga, meadow, grove, snowy slopes, cherry grove and the peak biomes.

Because of the low success chance, outposts are less common than you might expect. Some seeds have none near spawn.

Finding an Outpost in Game

Outposts are tall, so you can see them from far away in open land. Look for a dark wooden tower with a white and gray banner. Patrols of pillagers wandering nearby are another hint.

In mountains and forests, they are easier to miss. A seed map shows exactly where the nearest one is, so you can plan your raid instead of running into a patrol by accident.

Keep an eye on the night sky as well. Pillager patrols carry torches, and their banners are easy to see by day. If you meet a patrol, the outpost is not always nearby, though. Patrols spawn across the world on their own. So use the map to confirm where the tower actually stands before you go hunting.

Using the Pillager Outpost Finder Map

First, pick your edition and version. Then enter your seed. The map marks the outposts closest to spawn and lists them by distance.

Click a result to copy coordinates or a /tp command. You land on the ground next to the tower. Bring a shield and armor, since pillagers shoot on sight. Use the 3D view to look at the terrain. An outpost on a cliff edge is harder to approach than one on flat ground.

Pillager Outpost Version History

Pillager outposts were added in Java 1.14, Village & Pillage, along with pillagers and raids. Java 1.18 let them spawn in more mountain biomes. Java 1.19 added allays to outpost cages. In Java 1.21, killing a captain started giving an ominous bottle instead of applying Bad Omen directly.

Tips for Raiding a Pillager Outpost

Pillagers shoot crossbows from a distance, so a shield is your best friend. Block their arrows, then close in. A bow of your own helps against pillagers on the tower.

The captain carries a banner on its head. Defeating it drops an ominous bottle. Only drink it when you are ready for a raid, since a raid starts as soon as you enter a village with the effect.

Outposts keep spawning pillagers as long as the area is loaded. Because of that, many players build pillager farms at outposts. Such a farm gives arrows, crossbows, emeralds and ominous bottles.

Keep these points in mind:

  • Climb the tower carefully. Pillagers on top can knock you off.
  • Free caged allays and give them an item to collect.
  • Patrols also roam the world, so you may meet pillagers far from any outpost.
