Enchanted Golden Apple Finder

The enchanted golden apple, also called the Notch apple, cannot be crafted. The only way to get one is to find it in a chest. This enchanted golden apple finder predicts the loot of desert temples and ruined portals from your seed, and puts a glowing golden apple on every one that has a Notch apple inside.

How to use the enchanted golden apple finder

  1. Enter your Java seed and pick your version.
  2. Zoom in: desert temples and ruined portals with a golden apple badge hold an enchanted golden apple.
  3. Click one for its coordinates, then Show loot to see every chest.

The list next to the map shows the closest structures with a Notch apple to spawn.

Desert temples are the best target: four chests in one room, close to the surface. Watch out for the TNT trap under the blue terracotta in the middle.

How accurate is it?

Chest loot is fixed by the seed and the chest's position when the structure generates, and the finder runs the game's own loot tables for your version. A chest that a player or a mob already opened, or that another structure broke, can differ. Java Edition only, since Bedrock rolls loot when the chest is first opened.

What the enchanted golden apple does

Eating one gives Regeneration II for 20 seconds, Absorption IV for 2 minutes, and Resistance and Fire Resistance for 5 minutes. It is the item you want for a wither fight or a raid.

FAQ

Can you craft an enchanted golden apple?

No. Since Java 1.9 it can only be found in chests.

Which structure is best for Notch apples?

Desert temples: four chests in one room, each with about a 2.5% chance.

Does it work for Bedrock?

No. Bedrock decides chest loot when a player first opens the chest, so it cannot be predicted from the seed.

Why does a chest in my world not have the apple?

The loot was predicted from the seed, but chests that were already opened or broken can differ. Make sure the map uses the same version as your world.
