Seed map › Versions › Java 1.21.6

Java Edition 1.21.6, the Chase the Skies drop, launched on June 17, 2025. Versions 1.21.7 and 1.21.8 followed as smaller updates and use the same generator. This Minecraft 1.21.6 seed map covers all three. Enter your seed to find soul sand valleys, Nether fossils, mansions and more, with exact coordinates ready to copy.

What Chase the Skies Changed in the World

Chase the Skies is the happy ghast drop. For world generation, two changes matter.

First, dried ghast blocks appear in Nether fossils inside soul sand valleys. A dried ghast is how you get a happy ghast. Put it in water and wait, and it grows into a ghastling.

Second, a woodland mansion room that had stopped generating now appears again. So mansions can show their full set of rooms.

Otherwise, the Overworld, Nether and End generate just as they did in 1.21.5. No new biomes or structures were added.

Do Seeds Match 1.21.5 and 1.21.9?

Yes. Terrain, biomes and structure positions stay the same from 1.21.5 to 1.21.8. The change is inside Nether fossils, not in where they spawn.

Looking forward, 1.21.9 also kept the layout. So whether you play 1.21.6, 1.21.7 or 1.21.8, the same seed gives the same world. Friends on slightly different patches can share coordinates without trouble.

Checking Your Version

Look at the title screen first. The version shows in the bottom-left corner. Next, the launcher's Installations tab tells you which version each profile runs. In game, the F3 screen shows it on the top line.

Any of 1.21.6, 1.21.7 or 1.21.8 means this map fits your world.

Finding Dried Ghasts with the Minecraft 1.21.6 Seed Map

  • Switch the map to the Nether and turn on biome colors.
  • Look for soul sand valleys. They are where Nether fossils with dried ghasts appear.
  • Note the coordinates, then divide Overworld coordinates by 8 to match portals. Build your portal close to the valley to save travel time.
  • Bring fire resistance. Soul sand valleys are full of skeletons and ghasts.
  • Back in the Overworld, use the map to find a woodland mansion if you want to see the restored room.

Soul Sand Valleys and the Happy Ghast

Soul sand valleys are one of five Nether biomes. They are wide, blue-lit and full of soul sand and soul soil. Skeletons and ghasts spawn there often, so expect a fight.

Nether fossils are bone block skeletons that only generate in soul sand valleys. In 1.21.6, some of them hold a dried ghast. Bring it home and place it in water. Over time, it rehydrates into a ghastling, which grows into a happy ghast.

Put a harness on a happy ghast and you can fly. Up to four players can ride one at a time. That makes the soul sand valley near your portal one of the most useful spots on this map.

One more tip: build your Nether portal on the edge of the valley, not in the middle. Soul sand slows you down, and ghast fireballs can break nearby blocks. A short bridge of cobblestone gets you in and out safely.
