Seed map › Versions › Java 1.20

Java Edition 1.20, Trails and Tales, was released on June 7, 2023. This page covers every release up to 1.20.6, since they share the same generator. This Minecraft 1.20 seed map shows cherry groves, trail ruins and every other biome and structure in your world. Enter a seed and start planning your next archaeology trip.

Cherry Groves and Trail Ruins

Trails and Tales added the cherry grove, a mountain biome much like a meadow. It is full of pink cherry trees, and some trees come with a bee nest. Pigs, sheep, rabbits and bees spawn there. Because it is a mountain biome, you will find it on high slopes.

The update also added trail ruins. These buried structures appear in taigas, snowy taigas, old growth taigas, old growth birch forests and jungles. Usually, only the top of a tower pokes out of the ground. Dig around it to find mud bricks, terracotta and glazed terracotta.

Archaeology Across the Map

The other big change is suspicious sand and suspicious gravel. Brush them to pull out items. They generate in:

  • desert pyramids and desert wells (sand)
  • warm ocean ruins (sand) and cold ocean ruins (gravel)
  • trail ruins (both)

Warm ocean ruins can give you sniffer eggs. Trail ruins hold pottery sherds and armor trims. As a result, old structures you may have ignored are worth a second look.

Later updates in this range kept the layout. For example, 1.20.5 added armadillos, which spawn in savannas and badlands, but it did not add new biomes or structures.

Do 1.19.4 Seeds Look the Same in 1.20?

Mostly. Terrain shape, most biomes and structure positions match. However, cherry groves now show up on some slopes, and trail ruins add new structure spots. So highland areas may look different.

Also note that 1.19.4 already added the suspicious sand room to desert pyramids. In 1.19.4, cherry groves only existed behind an experimental toggle.

Moving to 1.21, the surface stays the same, but trial chambers appear underground.

Checking Your Version and Using the Minecraft 1.20 Seed Map

Check the bottom-left of the title screen, or your profile in the launcher's Installations tab. Any version from 1.20 to 1.20.6 fits this page.

  • Look at mountain areas for cherry groves. Pink patches stand out with biome colors on.
  • Enable the trail ruins marker, then dig carefully with a brush near the tower top.
  • Find a warm ocean and mark its ruins if you want sniffer eggs.
  • Plan a desert trip that hits a pyramid and a well together.

Cherry Groves as Build Sites

Cherry groves are one of the most popular build sites in the game. Pink leaves, falling petals and pink petal ground cover make any base look good. Cherry trees also give you a full cherry wood set, from planks to doors and signs.

Keep a few things in mind. Because the cherry grove is a mountain biome, the ground can be steep. Switch the map to 3D view to find a flatter patch. Bees often live in the trees, so do not swing at a nest.

If you want a calm start, pick a grove near a village. You get trades, beds and the best view in the world.
