Java Edition 1.21, Tricky Trials, came out on June 13, 2024, and 1.21.1 followed as a bug-fix release. Both share one world generator. This Minecraft 1.21.1 seed map covers both versions. Enter your seed to find trial chambers deep underground, plus the swamps where the bogged spawn and every classic structure.
Trial Chambers: The Big New Structure
Tricky Trials added the trial chamber, a large underground complex built from copper and tuff. Its starting room generates between Y −40 and Y −20, and most rooms sit between Y −20 and 0. The game tries to place one chamber in each 34 by 34 chunk region, so they are uncommon but not rare.
Inside, you will find:
- Trial spawners that release waves of mobs
- Vaults that hand out loot when you use a trial key
- The breeze, a wind-throwing mob that only spawns here
- Traps, corridors and dispensers that keep you moving
Clear a chamber and you can earn a heavy core and breeze rods, which you need to make a mace.
New Mobs Tied to Biomes
The bogged, a poisonous skeleton, also arrived. It spawns in swamps and mangrove swamps, and inside trial chambers. So the swamp biomes on your map are worth a look before you build there.
Biomes and terrain otherwise stayed the same. Villages, temples, ancient cities and the rest still follow the 1.20 rules.
Do 1.20 Seeds Give the Same World?
Yes, apart from trial chambers. Terrain, biomes and older structures match 1.20.6. The new chambers fill in underground gaps, so they do not push other structures around on the surface.
Here is a fun bonus. Trial chambers are one of the few structures that generate in the same spots on Java and Bedrock. So a friend on Bedrock 1.21 with the same seed can meet you at the same chamber.
Moving to 1.21.2, chamber positions stay put. Only some hallways and traps change.
Version Check and Minecraft 1.21.1 Seed Map Tips
Check the version in the bottom-left of the title screen, or in the launcher's Installations tab. Then plan your run:
- Turn on the trial chamber marker and pick the one closest to spawn.
- Copy the coordinates and dig a staircase down. Aim for Y −20 to reach the main rooms.
- Bring a shield and blocks. Breezes knock you around.
- Check nearby caves for copper blocks and tuff bricks. They show you are close.
Vaults, Keys and Ominous Trials
Clear a trial spawner and it drops a trial key. Use the key on a vault to get loot. Each player can open each vault once, so friends do not steal your rewards.
For a harder run, try an ominous trial. Raid captains drop ominous bottles, and drinking one gives you Bad Omen. Walk into a trial chamber with Bad Omen and it turns into Trial Omen. Spawners then become ominous and drop ominous trial keys. Those keys open ominous vaults, which can hold the heavy core.
So the chamber near spawn is worth visiting twice.
