Crimson Forest

The crimson forest is a dense red Nether jungle of huge crimson fungi, weeping vines and glowing shroomlights. Hoglins and piglins roam the crimson nylium below. This crimson forest finder reads your seed and marks the nearest forests on the map above. The view switches to the Nether automatically, so you can plan your trip right away.

Where crimson forests generate

Crimson forests are one of the five Nether biomes. They grow between nether wastes, soul sand valleys, warped forests and basalt deltas.

A red fog and floating red spores fill the air. As a result, you can recognize a crimson forest the moment you enter it.

On the map, crimson forests often form large connected patches. Their edges blend into nether wastes and sometimes touch warped forests. As a result, you can walk from red woods into teal woods in a few steps. The canopy is thick, so the floor below can be quite dark. Because of that, a few shroomlights or torches help a lot while you explore.

What you find in a crimson forest

The ground is crimson nylium, a red variant of netherrack. Huge crimson fungi grow on it, made of crimson stems, nether wart blocks and shroomlights.

• Plants: crimson fungus, crimson roots and weeping vines.
• Mobs: hoglins, piglins and zombified piglins, plus striders in lava.
• Structures: fortresses, bastion remnants and ruined portals.

Crimson stems are fireproof wood. Planks made from them do not burn.

How to find a crimson forest with the map

In game, look for red fog and towering red mushrooms. From a high spot, the canopy stands out against the netherrack.

The finder makes it simple. Enter your seed and choose Java or Bedrock. The map hops to the Nether and moves to the closest crimson forest, then marks it with a biome icon. The list on the left gives you more forests. Click a result and the map follows.

Copy the coordinates and teleport inside the Nether. In Java, that is /execute in minecraft:the_nether run tp @s X 100 Z.

Crimson forest tips

Hoglins are aggressive, but they give plenty of porkchops and leather. They also flee from warped fungus, so carry some for protection or a farm.

Wear gold armor to keep piglins calm. Shroomlights are a bright light source, and weeping vines can be climbed. Use bone meal on crimson nylium to grow new fungi, then bone meal a crimson fungus to grow a full tree.

Crimson forest finder for food and farms

Food is hard to find in the Nether, and the crimson forest solves that. Hoglins drop raw porkchops, so a single hunt can keep you fed for a long trip. Cook the meat on a campfire or in a furnace before eating.

Many players build a hoglin farm here. Hoglins breed with crimson fungus, and baby hoglins grow up over time. Remember, though, that hoglins turn into zoglins if you bring them to the Overworld. Zoglins attack nearly everything.

Shroomlights and nether wart blocks are worth collecting as well. Shroomlights give strong light, and nether wart blocks make a warm red building block. Finally, use the list on the left to find a crimson forest close to a bastion or fortress, so you can combine trips.

Crimson forests were added in Java 1.16 with the Nether Update. Hoglins, piglins, crimson wood and shroomlights all arrived in the same update.
