Seed map › Versions › Java 1.13

Java Edition 1.13, the Update Aquatic, was released on July 18, 2018. It turned Minecraft's oceans from empty water into full biomes with reefs, wrecks and ruins. This Minecraft 1.13 seed map shows your world as 1.13 builds it. Enter your seed to find coral reefs, shipwrecks, buried treasure and every land structure.

Oceans Became Real Biomes

Before 1.13, oceans were mostly the same everywhere. The Update Aquatic split them by temperature:

  • Warm oceans, with sand floors and coral reefs
  • Lukewarm and cold oceans, with kelp and seagrass
  • Frozen oceans, with icebergs, packed ice and blue ice

Most of these also come in deep variants. In addition, the sea floor got underwater caves and ravines, plus kelp forests, seagrass and sea pickles.

New Ocean Structures

Three new structures arrived:

  • Shipwrecks rest on the ocean floor and on beaches. Their chests can hold treasure maps.
  • Ocean ruins appear in stone or sandstone styles, depending on water temperature. Drowned guard them.
  • Buried treasure hides under beach sand. You find it with a map from a shipwreck or ocean ruin, and it holds a heart of the sea.

Ocean monuments from older versions still generate in deep oceans. So a deep ocean near spawn can give you a monument, a wreck and ruins in one trip.

Do 1.12 and 1.14 Seeds Match?

Against 1.12, land terrain and land biomes generally stay where they were. The big difference is the oceans. Their biomes, sea floors and structures are new, so coastlines may look different up close.

Against 1.14, the oceans stay the same. However, villages were redesigned in 1.14, bamboo jungles replaced parts of jungles and pillager outposts appeared. So land structures differ more between 1.13 and 1.14 than oceans do.

Checking Your Version and Using the Minecraft 1.13 Seed Map

Look at the bottom-left of the title screen, or check your profile in the launcher's Installations tab. Versions 1.13 to 1.13.2 fit this page.

  • Turn on shipwreck and ocean ruin markers, then plan a boat route between them.
  • Look for warm oceans if you want coral. They show up as bright patches with biome colors on.
  • Use the buried treasure marker to skip the map hunt and dig straight down.
  • Bring doors or a conduit for breathing room when you explore underwater.

Underwater Mobs and Gear

The Update Aquatic also changed what lives in the water:

  • Turtles nest on beaches. Their scutes craft a turtle shell helmet that gives water breathing.
  • Dolphins give you a speed boost when you swim near them. Feed them raw fish and they lead you toward treasure.
  • Drowned roam the oceans and can drop tridents.

Combine a heart of the sea from buried treasure with nautilus shells to build a conduit. It gives water breathing and night vision in a large area. As a result, an ocean base becomes practical.

Remember that drowned get stronger at night, and some carry tridents. So explore ruins by day when you can.

FAQ

What ocean biomes did 1.13 add?

Warm, lukewarm, cold and frozen oceans, most with deep variants. Before 1.13, oceans were mostly the same everywhere.

Buried treasure hides under sand on beaches. Use the map marker, or a treasure map from a shipwreck or ocean ruin.

Is a 1.12 seed the same in 1.13?

Land terrain and land biomes generally match, but oceans were rebuilt with new biomes, sea floors and structures.

Does this map work for 1.13.2?

Yes. Versions 1.13 to 1.13.2 share the same world generation.
