The 5 Best Minecraft Seed Map Tools in 2026

Quick answer: the best Minecraft seed map in 2026 is SeedMapView. It is the only one with real 3D terrain, ore veins with Y levels and chest loot, and it supports Java 26.3 and Bedrock 26.60 for free, without ads. Chunkbase comes second, Cubiomes Viewer third.

A seed map shows the world a seed generates before you load it: biomes, villages, strongholds and more. For this list, we tested the five best-known tools in November 2026 on the same seeds. Then we ranked them on what players need most: current versions, accuracy, what you can see and how easy the tool is to use.

1. SeedMapView: the best Minecraft seed map overall

SeedMapView runs the game's own world generation in your browser and draws it as a 3D block world or a 2D map. As a result, it is the most complete tool on this list.

  • 3D terrain with block textures and exact heights for Java 1.18+.
  • 29 structures with a finder page each, plus 66 biome finders.
  • Ores: every vein of ten ores with its X, Y and Z.
  • Loot: chest contents, End ships with elytra and Notch apples on Java.
  • Tools: seed finder with presets, quad witch huts and quad monuments, slime chunks, spawn chunks, measure, markers, areas.
  • Seed pages with an S to F rating and a public seed library.
  • 22 languages, no ads, no account.

Best for: everyone on a current version, from survival players to speedrunners and builders.

2. Chunkbase: the long-time standard

Chunkbase is the tool most players know. Its 2D seed map covers a wide range of versions, back to Java 1.7, and it has more than 30 separate finder apps. In addition, it offers markers, areas and an advanced search on the map.

On the other hand, it has no 3D view, no ore Y levels and no chest contents, and it runs ads. Best for: very old worlds and Java dungeons. Read the full SeedMapView vs Chunkbase comparison.

3. Cubiomes Viewer: the seed hunter's desktop app

Cubiomes Viewer is a free desktop app for Windows and Linux. Its search is the most powerful here: nested conditions, quad witch huts and Lua scripts. However, the map itself is 2D with an optional height map.

Also, it supports Java only, up to 1.21. Best for: searching millions of seeds for a rare layout. See SeedMapView vs Cubiomes Viewer.

4. McSeedMap: a simple web map

McSeedMap is a free browser map by the author of uNmINeD. It supports the latest Java and Bedrock versions and also has a basic seed finder. Still, the map is 2D only, its translations are machine-made, and it shows ads.

Best for: a quick 2D look at biomes and the main structures.

5. Amidst: the classic, now outdated

Amidst was the go-to desktop viewer for years. However, its last release supports Minecraft up to 1.17, and the project is looking for a new maintainer. That means it cannot show 1.18+ worlds.

Best for: worlds from 1.17 and older. See SeedMapView vs Amidst.

How to choose a seed map

Ask yourself three questions:

  1. Which version is my world? Pick a tool that supports it exactly, because worlds from 1.18 on need a 1.18+ generator.
  2. Java or Bedrock? Structures sit in different places in each edition, so the tool must support yours.
  3. What do I want to find? For structures and biomes, any tool works. For ores, loot, terrain heights or a 3D preview, however, only SeedMapView has them.

Finally, check that the tool is accurate. For example, SeedMapView tests every new version against the official Minecraft server, as its accuracy page explains.

FAQ

What is the best Minecraft seed map?

SeedMapView. It has real 3D terrain, ore veins with Y levels, chest loot and support for Java 26.3 and Bedrock 26.60, free and without ads.

Is Chunkbase still good?

Yes, especially for very old versions. It is 2D only and has no ore Y levels or chest loot.

Which seed map works for Bedrock?

SeedMapView, Chunkbase and McSeedMap. Cubiomes Viewer and Amidst are Java only.

Are seed maps accurate?

The good ones run the game's own generation code, so structures and biomes match. A few structures also check the ground when they generate, so they can be missing in rare cases.
